Taylor Kitsch Calls 'Savages' Sex Scenes With Blake Lively 'Awkward'
"I was just glad it was over with, to be honest," the actor said of the intimate scenes in Oliver Stone’s upcoming film.
In Savages, one of the first scenes that Taylor Kitsch’s character Chon appears in is a steamy sex scene with Blake Lively’s character O.
It turns out the up-close-and-personal scene was much more work than play for Kitsch, who called the whole experience “awkward.”
“I was just glad it was over with, to be honest. It's very awkward to do, to be honest,” Kitsch told reporters during a press conference for the film.
In Oliver Stone’s Savages, Kitsch’s Chon is a former Navy SEAL with a tough exterior, who seems to care only about his lady, O (Lively) and his best friend Ben (Aaron Johnson), who also has a sexual relationship with O.
"It's such a big part of Chon and who he is, and that's how you meet him. So it's a pretty intense reveal, no pun intended,” Kitsch added.
In the film, which opens in theaters on July 6, the three Laguna Beach residents run a marijuana growing business that comes under threat from the Mexican Cartel. The film also stars Salma Hayek, Benicio Del Toro, Demian Bichir and John Travolta.
Kitsch told reporters he had only met Gossip Girl star Lively three or four days before rehearsals started, so there wasn’t a lot of time to get to know each other.
“We blocked it out with Oliver,” Kitsch said of his preparation for the sex scenes. “We had two weeks of rehearsals, so we talked it out until we were about to pass out. Then, on the day… that was the first week of shooting, so it’s just about trusting Blake and Oliver like you do on any set.”
