In a list dominated by female talent, the magazine singled out Rihanna ($53 million), Lady Gaga ($52 million), Katy Perry ($45 million) and Kristen Stewart ($34.5 million) as the top young earners in Hollywood.

An annual list of the 10 highest-paid celebrities under the age of 30 compiled by Forbes magazine has found that women really do run the world -- the world of entertainment, at least.

Dominating the list are a number of chart-topping music sensations, the biggest being Taylor Swift, who the magazine estimates earned $57 million between May 2011 and May 2012. If the number seems staggeringly high, consider that each of Swift's three albums has gone platinum four times over, adding up to sales of 4 million each. Also figured in are Swift's various endorsements, like CoverGirl cosmetics, and concert ticket sales, for which she can earn $1 million per show.

Representing the men is 18-year-old Justin Bieber, in second place with an estimated $55 million in earnings for the same time period. Rihanna ($53 million), Lady Gaga ($52 million -- down from $90 million last year),  Katy Perry ($45 million) and Adele ($35 million) round out the all-musician top six. Not bad when you consider the wan record sales plaguing the music industry.

The three stars of The Twilight Saga -- Kristen Stewart ($34.5 million), Taylor Lautner ($26.5 million) and Robert Pattinson ($26.5 million) -- are the only actors on the list, while rap star Lil Wayne holds eighth place with $27 million.

Based on "earnings and metrics developed to quantify buzz," Forbes considers "album and concert sales, movie paydays, profit participation, endorsements and advertising work" in making their earnings estimates.
