8 Reasons Why We Wish Taylor Swift Was Our Godmother
From baked goods to celebrity friends, the perks are endless.
Hart of Dixie actress and model Jaime King and husband, director Kyle Newman, welcomed their second son Leo Thames to the world earlier this month. Not only does little Leo have famous and talented parents, but he also has Taylor Swift as his godmother.

Now since we all can’t be a part of Swift’s illustrious squad, it's only right to fantasize about what it would be like if the pop-star was our (fairy) godmother. Because let’s face it, being able to call Taylor Swift your godmother would be the best birthday present ever.
Here are eight of the top reasons we wish we could call Swift our godmama.
1. Free baking lessons.
It's not every day that a person exemplifies such killer business skills and knows how to bake delicious goodies from scratch. Swift frequently hosts her BFFs, from model Gigi Hadid to actress Sarah Hyland, to bake. This Fourth of July, she had the whole squad at her Rhode Island beach house to make a signature “flag cake.” If you’re Swift’s godchild, you can be sure you’ll be the one who gets to lick the spoon.
2. Unlimited access to the music industry.
Nick Jonas. Jason Derulo. Rachel Platten. What do all of these artists have in common, you ask? Not only do they all have hot tracks this summer, but they were also guest artists on Swift’s 1989 World Tour. Swift herself is obviously a music icon, but she is also notorious for having other musicians as friends. Not only that, but she has successfully made the transition from country darling to pop starlet, officially cementing her standing as a musical goddess.
3. Extra houses to call home.
Growing up, we all had that cool aunt who let us stay up past our bedtimes, took us shopping and let us eat all the junk food we could possibly want. Well, Swift is that aunt on steroids. Who would turn down a chance for a sleepover at a penthouse in Tribeca, a beach house on the Atlantic or a cottage in Beverly Hills? When Taylor Swift is your godmother, home is where Taylor is.
4. Getting a song written about you.
In Swift’s autobiographical tune, “Never Grow Up,” she wrote “I won't let nobody hurt you, won't let no one break your heart. And no one will desert you. Just try to never grow up, never grow up.” If she could write that song pre-godchild ... imagine what she will be able to pen post-godchild. (Hint: It’ll be Grammy-worthy.)

5. Having a mega-successful mentor on hand.
When you’re applying for a job or have an important interview, who would be better at giving advice than a woman who helped launch a music label and is in charge of her own career? Swift could spew business advice at a moment's notice and also is sure to give you a killer recommendation.
6. Going on shopping trips with supermodels.
Whether you're male or female, hanging out with Victoria's Secret Angels will always be categorized under “perks.” Shopping dates with Karlie Kloss and Lily Aldridge will basically guarantee you will never be caught in an unflattering outfit again. Who knows, maybe there’s even a Vogue cover in your future.
7. Being guaranteed a spot in a music video.
It's safe to assume that everyone at this point has watched the "Bad Blood" music video, where actresses ranging from Ellen Pompeo to Mariska Hargitay starred alongside Swift and other squad members, including Lena Dunham and Cara Delevingne. While it's easy to pretend you're in a music video with headphones in your ears and the music blaring, it is not exactly the same as starring in a video nominated for multiple Video Music Awards.
8. Having a lifelong friend.
We could go on and on about the material benefits of having Taylor Swift as a godmother, but in reality the true benefits are the ones you can't see. Swift prides herself on being a friend to millions of fans around the world. How many celebrities invite fans to secret music sessions in their living room? So maybe we won't all have the opportunity to be her godchild, but the special thing about Ms. Swift is you don't have to in order to feel like her friend.
