The country star is 2010's top-selling artist, with sales of over four million albums.
At an event held in Nashville on Friday, Taylor Swift was presented with several platinum plaques commemorating the country star’s astronomical album and single sales.
Flanked by her band members as she accepted the mammoth trophy, Swift was also joined at Music City’s Hard Rock Café by Big Machine Label Group CEO Scott Borchetta, BMI head Jody Williams, Sony/ATV’s Troy Tomlinson and representatives from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and Nielsen SoundScan, the company that tallies weekly music sales, among other music business notables. Swift was recognized as the top-selling artist of 2010, having moved over 4.4 million albums (she held the same title in 2008). Her latest effort, the triple platinum, Speak Now, also saw each of its 11 songs land on the Billboard Hot 100, with “Mine” selling over 1.6 million downloads to make her the No. 1 most played artist of last year. To date, Swift’s sales now exceed 20 million albums and 35 million downloads. Next up for the music industry’s great blond hope? A 90-date worldwide tour spanning 19 countries and kicking off Feb. 9 in Singapore.THR's Daily Must Feeds
