Taylor Swift to Perform, U.S. Olympics Gymnastics Team to Present at MTV VMAs
The "Fierce Five" will hand out Moonmen along with Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.
Taylor Swift is heading to the Video Music Awards.
After missing last year’s show for a nearby performance of her own, Swift is heading back to the MTV VMAs to promote her forthcoming album. (As part of her Speak Now tour in 2011, the singer held a concert at L.A.'s Staples Center while the VMAs were held at the Nokia Theater on Aug. 28. Following the ceremony, several attendees, including ex boyfriend Taylor Lautner, ventured across the street to catch the second half of her show.)

Just one week after the world premiere of her latest single, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” the country-pop superstar has been confirmed to perform at the annual awards show, where she will sing a never-before-heard song off her new album. Though she’s not up for any Moonmen of her own this year, Swift’s fourth studio album, Red, is due out on Oct. 22.
Swift joins previously announced performers Green Day, Pink, Alicia Keys and One Direction, who are also up for Best New Artist.

MTV also announced on Tuesday that the Gold medal-winning U.S. Women’s Olympics Gymnastics Team, known as the “Fierce Five" (Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, Kyla Ross, McKayla Maroney), will also be on hand as presenters along with Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller.
Voting is now open in all categories for the Sept. 6 ceremony, held this year at the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles. For more on the show and to see a complete list of nominees, click here.
