TBS Taps Thom Hinkle VP Comedy
The former co-president at Steve Carell's production company will oversee the Turner-owned network's comedy brand.
TBS has tapped Thom Hinkle vp comedy.
Hinkle boards the Turner-owned comedy-focused cable network from Carousel Television, the TV production arm of Steve Carell's Carousel Productions. Hinkle will be based in Los Angeles and report to Brett Weitz, senior vp scripted development at TBS and TNT.
"We found ourselves doing a lot of business with Thom while he was at Carousel, and we loved his taste and the style with which he handles talent," Weitz said. "It became very clear to us that we would be lucky to have him on our team, leading TBS' scripted comedy department as we prepare to launch our new comedy Ground Floor and build on the success of our sitcom hits Cougar Town, Sullivan & Son and Men at Work."
Hinkle becomes the first dedicated scripted exec at TBS since vp comedy development Kathy Busby moved to TNT and TBS Original Productions last year.
During his run at Carousel TV, Hinkle set up Tribeca and America's Least Wanted at TBS, a Rockford Files reboot at NBC and a series staring The Daily Show's Jason Jones at Fox.
Before Carousel, Hinkle was vp NorthSouth Productions, where he opened their L.A. office. He started his career at The Daily Show With Jon Stewart as a researcher and eventual associate and field producer.
