LONDON -- Digital movie channel Turner Classic Movies (TCM) is set to bring U.K. viewers the U.S. original scripted drama series Longmire, starring Australian actor Robert Taylor (The Matrix).

TCM inked a deal for U.K. and Ireland rights to the first season of 10 one-hour episodes from Warner Bros. International Television Distribution.

Based on the Walt Longmire mystery novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson, the show details the story of a charismatic, dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming.

It also stars Katee Sackhoff (Battlestar Galactica), Lou Diamond Phillips (Numb3rs), Bailey Chase (Damages), Cassidy Freeman (Smallville) and newcomer Adam Bartley.

TCM, owned by Turner Broadcasting, will debut season one to U.K. viewers next month.

Longmire launched in the U.S. on A&E Network and was the most-watched original scripted series premiere in the cable network’s history, averaging 4.1 million viewers.

Season two will debut in the U.S. later this year.

Jemma Yates, Turner U.K. programming director of general entertainment, said: "This modern day western crime drama offers viewers something new and unique and has achieved huge success in the U.S. It’s a highly watchable mystery series with true grit, which will appeal strongly to TCM viewers.”

Longmire is produced by The Shephard/Robin Company in association with Warner Horizon Television.

Hunt Baldwin (The Closer) and John Coveny (The Closer) wrote the pilot and serve as executive producers of the series along with Greer Shephard (The Closer, Nip/Tuck) and Michael M. Robin (The Closer, Nip/Tuck). Christopher Chulack (Southland, ER) served as director and executive producer of the pilot.
