Event will take place April 25-28 in Hollywood with the theme "Cinematic Journeys: Travel in the Movies."
The annual TCM Classic Film Festival will return to Hollywood for its fourth edition April 25-28, it was announced Tuesday. The 2013 event will center on the theme "Cinematic Journeys: Travel in the Movies."
The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the site of the first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929, again will serve as the festival’s official hotel and a central gathering point for attendees. Screenings and events also will be held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the Chinese 6 Theatres and the Egyptian Theatre.
Robert Osborne, TCM host, film historian and former longtime columnist for The Hollywood Reporter, will serve as host, with TCM's Ben Mankiewicz also introducing various events. The 2012 festival included appearances by Liza Minnelli, Kirk Douglas, Mel Brooks, Kim Novak, Debbie Reynolds, Angie Dickinson, Robert Wagner and Stanley Donen.
Passes for the 2013 TCM Classic Film Festival are set to go on sale in November and can be purchased here.
Leading to the festival, TCM again will conduct a nationwide “Road to Hollywood” tour of local screenings. One event has been announced: an Oct. 13 showing of the 1956 sci-fi classic Forbidden Planet at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Orlando. The film stars Walter Pidgeon, Leslie Nielsen and Anne Francis.
