Google's deal that lets the Internet giant place ads on Yahoo's search pages should be approved with limits, the American Antitrust Institute said. Because the search-advertising market already is extremely concentrated, the institute argued that consumers would be best served if No. 2 Yahoo remained independent rather than being acquired by Microsoft.
POST NOMS UNVEILED
The films "Iron Man" and "Into the Wild" and the TV series "Pushing Daisies" each received two nominations each as the nominees for the Hollywood Post Alliance's third annual HPA Awards were announced Tuesday. The awards will be held Nov. 6 at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles.
London-headquartered VFX house Framestore on Tuesday launched a base in Reykjavik, Iceland. Framestore veteran and lead animation supervisor Dadi Einarsson will oversee the boutique-size venture. Einarsson, who grew up in Iceland, worked at Framestore in London on projects including "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and "The Golden Compass." The first assignment in Iceland will be shots for Baz Luhrmann's "Australia," which also is in the works at Framestore's London facility.
