'Teen Wolf' Star Colton Haynes to Get Honor From Human Rights Campaign
The advocacy organization is honoring the actor at a gala this Saturday.
Colton Haynes is set to receive the Human Rights Campaign's Visibility Award at the group's 17th annual gala this Saturday in Seattle.
The Teen Wolf star is being honored for the way he "has inspired countless LGBTq young people across the country and around the world to live their lives as their authentic selves," said HRC President Chad Griffin in a statement.
"By simply being open about who he is, Haynes is helping to break down barriers and tear down closet doors," added Griffin.
Haynes recently came out publicly as gay in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"People who are so judgmental about those who are gay or different don’t realize that acting 24 hours a day is the most exhausting thing in the world," Haynes said in the interview.
The HRC gala will take place at the Seattle Sheraton on Saturday and will include an auction to raise funds for LGBTQ causes.
