Tegan and Sara, Machine Gun Kelly to Co-Host mtvU Woodie Awards
Twenty One Pilots also will perform during the awards show, along with previously announced Macklemore & Ryan Lewis.
Indie pop group Tegan and Sara and rapper Machine Gun Kelly will co-host the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards, set to take place during SXSW in Austin, Texas, on March 14.
"This will be our first time at the mtvU Woodie Awards, so we couldn't be more excited to be making our debut as co-hosts and nominees for the Tag Team Woodie for our song 'Body Work' with Morgan Page! Wow! It's a good thing they got Machine Gun Kelly to step in as our tri-host(?) because no one else would be able to get a word in edgewise. See you in Austin!" said Tegan and Sara in a joint statement.
“I think the first thing we all are thinking is, ‘Wow, I can't believe MTV trusted MGK to actually co-host something like this’ and then the second thought is, ‘f*ck yeah MTV for trusting MGK to co-host something like this!!!’ The only thing I've ever hosted was parties, so it looks like this year will have to be a party! AND we're nominated this year for the biggest award, there is a lot to be excited about. Lace up Woodies!” said Machine Gun Kelly in a statement.
Twenty One Pilots also has been tapped to perform along with previously announced Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Additional performers will be announced shortly.
HAIM and Timeflies will perform during the mtvU Woodie Awards Festival leading up to the awards show that evening with Alt-J, Jake Bugg and Jams Stage performers Trinidad Jame$, Travi$ Scott and Joey Bada$$.
MTV and mtvU will air a 30-minute Woodie Awards special at 8 p.m. March 17.
