Televisa Buys Remaining Stake in Cablemas
The Mexican media giant has agreed to fully acquire the cable unit for nearly $400 million.
GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- Mexican media giant Televisa said on Friday it has agreed to fully acquire its cable unit Cablemas for nearly $400 million.
The transaction allows Televisa to buy outright the remaining 41.7% stake in Cablemas, Mexico's second largest cabler with more than 1.5 million video, broadband and telephone clients.
A dominant player in both broadcast and pay TV, Televisa also owns Mexico City cable outfit Cablevision, cabler TVI in northern Mexico and satcaster Sky Mexico.
