Tennis Channel nets 8 mil homes
EmptyNEW YORK -- DirecTV and Comcast Corp.'s Tennis Channel have agreed to a carriage agreement that will put the sports channel in 8 million satellite homes this year.
In addition, DirecTV will carry a free trial of the channel to its subscribers in late May and early June for its coverage of the French Open. That will include interactive features including the ability to watch as many as six matches at a time plus updates from throughout the Open, which begins May 27. The first match will be the one being carried by Tennis Channel and then five other ones selected by the viewer.
The channel, which carries more than 60 tournaments every year, will launch a high-definition network in December, and DirecTV will offer that, too.
