In fiction, our top picks include page turners from Stephen King, John Grisham and Michael Connelly. This month also saw the release of the first new Sherlock Holmes novel authorized by the estate of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle—the perfect appetizer for fans excited to see Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law, which hits theaters December 16.
In non-fiction, there is new humor from Mindy Kaling and Bill Maher. On the serious side there is a timely look at the scandal of college athletics, the thrilling true story of death and disaster during the 1961 Formula One racing season and a memoir from the first openly gay ambasador.
