The Killers' Saxophone Player Commits Suicide
Says the band, “Last night we lost our friend Thomas Marth. ... There’s a light missing in Las Vegas tonight."
Tommy Marth, a saxophone player for The Killers, was found dead on Monday at his Las Vegas home. The death of the 33-year old was ruled a suicide, according to reports.
"Last night we lost our friend Thomas Marth. Our prayers are with his family. There’s a light missing in Las Vegas tonight. Travel well, Tommy," said a statement from The Killers, via Las Vegas Weekly.
Marth played sax on the pop-rock band's global tour in 2008-2009, and can also be heard on the group's albums Sam's Town (2006) and Day & Age (2008).
He's survived by his parents and siblings.
"I’m just trying to make sense of things right now and help some people who aren’t doing very well,” local musician Ryan Pardey told the newspaper. “He was one of the most talented people in our community and one of my closest friends since we were 18.”
