ThinkFilm promotes Stambler

NEW YORK -- On the eve of the Sundance Film Festival, ThinkFilm exec Ben Stambler has been promoted to vp acquisitions and development at the indie distributor.

Stambler joined the company's New York headquarters as director of acquisitions in March after serving as manager of acquisitions at Magnolia Pictures.

His new title reflects ThinkFilm’s increasing moves into film production (including the upcoming “Blue Valentine”) and his role in such recent acquisitions as Alex Gibney’s “Taxi to the Dark Side” and Helen Hunt’s “Then She Found Me.”

Stambler was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award as producer of Aaron Katz’s “Quiet City,” which premiered at last year’s South by Southwest Film Festival.
