THR appoints Mika publishing director

NEW YORK -- The Hollywood Reporter has promoted Eric Mika to the newly created role of senior vp publishing director, effective immediately, publisher John Kilcullen said Monday.

Mika will be based in Los Angeles and report to Kilcullen. He is charged with accelerating THR's next phase of growth and link the paper's domestic and international strategy.

Mika will be responsible for the general management of sales, marketing and editorial for THR, working with other executives "to drive our audience marketing, digital, production, distribution and ancillary products and services, including events, licensing and partnerships initiatives," Kilcullen said.

Mika joined the Nielsen Co., the corporate parent of THR, in January as senior vp an d managing director, international, for Nielsen Business Media's Film & Performing Arts and Music Group, based in London. In that role, he managed THR's U.K. bureau as well as other global operations, established a news gathering and sales network in Asia and opened an office in Hong Kong.

An alum of the New York University School of Journalism, Mika regularly appears as an editorial commentator on international news programs. He is co-president of the international editorial jury of the Eutelsat Hotbird Awards and host of the event, which celebrates excellence in satellite programming.

"He brings a high level of knowledge and experience in all aspects of publishing -- strategic planning, editorial, circulation, sales, marketing and production -- that will ensure that all our products best serve the industry," Kilcullen said.
