THR Senior Writer Daniel Miller Wins Real Estate Journalism Awards
Miller was recognized for his feature on the Church of Scientology's buying spree in Hollywood.
The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) announced the winners of its 62nd Annual Journalism Awards on Friday, with THR senior writer Daniel Miller taking one of the top awards.
Miller was recognized with the Best Entry by a Young Journalist Award, in addition to winning his category (Best Real Estate, Mortgage or Financial Report in a Magazine) for his feature on the Church of Scientology's buying spree in Hollywood.
“In what the judges felt was the strongest category in this year’s contest, this was a novel story that connected the dots about the Church of Scientology and its expanding real estate holdings in Hollywood. The outstanding reporting was deep, hard hitting, and yet entirely fair. The writer clearly knows how to keep the reader turning the page," the judges said of Miller's piece.
Winners were selected by a panel of judges from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University. Professor Patrick S. Washburn chaired the panel, which awarded prizes totaling $8,000 in 25 categories with three overall winners.
NAREE’s Journalism Awards recognize excellence in reporting, writing and editing stories about both residential and commercial real estate.
