THR, L.A. mayor to host Oscar bash
Antonio Villaraigosa co-hosting Nominees' Night on March 4
The Hollywood Reporter, in partnership with Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, jointly will host the inaugural red carpet Nominees' Night at Getty House -- the mayoral residence -- on Thursday, March 4.
The cocktail reception will serve as the official welcoming celebration of the 2010 Academy Awards weekend and is designed to honor this year's Oscar nominees, who will be among the attendees along with leading members of the Hollywood community.
"It is an honor to take The Hollywood Reporter's powerful brand to celebrate and thank the extraordinary talent that makes Los Angeles the center of the business of entertainment, particularly during this exciting Oscar season," THR publisher Eric Mika said. "We very much appreciate Mayor Villaraigosa's leadership of this entertainment capital and thank him for so generously opening the doors to his residence for such an important gathering."
Said Villaraigosa: "I am honored to co-host this event with Eric Mika of The Hollywood Reporter because the Oscars illuminate Los Angeles' standing as the entertainment capital of the world to people across the globe. The entertainment industry is the lifeblood of Los Angeles both culturally and economically; it fuels our city's signature creative spirit while employing over 200,000 people in the region."

Nominees' Night, sponsored by Microsoft Bing, L'Oreal Paris and the city of Vera Cruz, is the latest addition to THR's extensive involvement with the film community. Other initiatives already in place include an awards column in the daily publication, the Oscar Roundtable Series, the Awards Watch Web site (THR.com/awards) and the Interactive Awards Screening Guide (THR.com/asg).
