ComScore: Uniques jump 12% in August, top 2 million

The Hollywood Reporter was the only entertainment-industry news source online to crack the 2 million mark for unique visitors in August, marking the second consecutive month that THR.com led the pack.

THR.com saw 2.13 million uniques for the month, according to third-party measurement service comScore's Media Metrix, up 12% from its performance in July. That was enough to put even more distance between THR and direct competitors including Variety (367,000, down 19% from July), the Wrap (288,000, down 21%) and the Los Angeles Times' the Envelope (261,000, up 35%). THR also tripled its lead over Deadline Hollywood, which plummeted 36% from July to 752,000 -- meaning THR topped Deadline by 183%.

In addition, THR for the second straight month managed to outdo major brands including VanityFair.com (1.4 million) and Rolling Stone (1.6 million).

Monday's New York Times unveiled the new plans for The Hollywood Reporter, which includes an impending redesigned website, a new weekly magazine and the conversion of the daily edition into an online PDF.
