NEW DELHI -- 2010 was a big year for Bollywood, both in terms of hits at home and making further inroads into international markets. Here are three films to keep an eye on in the new year.
No One Killed Jessica: The film is based on a real life incident that took place in Delhi in 1999, when fashion model Jessica Lal was shot dead at a party by the son of a powerful politician. The initial court verdict was in favor of the killer who was let off due to lack of evidence sparking a national outcry and media frenzy for justice which led to the case being reopened after which he was found guilty and given a life term. Top actress Rani Mukherjee plays a crusading journalist while fellow actress Vidya Balan plays Jessica's sister Sabrina Lal who tirelessly fought for justice. Opens Jan. 7.
Paan Singh Tomar: Also inspired by a real life story, acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan (Slumdog Millionaire) plays an athlete who becomes a bandit.
Dhobi Ghat: An ensemble story that gives a slice of life in Mumbai set around four characters from various social strata. Dhobi Ghat is the directorial debut of Kiran Rao, whose husband superstar Aamir Khan co-stars in and produces the film.
