'The Three Musketeers' Crosses the $100 Mil Mark Worldwide
UPDATED: Paul W.S. Anderson's 3-D swashbuckler has earned $94.7 million internationally, compared to only $18 million domestically.
Paul W.S. Anderson’s 3-D reboot of the The Three Musketeers may be struggling to find an audience at the domestic box office, but its mustered enough strength internationally to jump the $100 mark worldwide.
Thre Musketeers, produced by Germany’s Constantin Film, grossed $5.8 million at the foreign box office this weeking, bringing its total overseas cume to $94.7 million.
In the U.S., Three Musketeers--starring Logan Lerman, Milla Jovovich, Orlando Bloom, Christoph Waltz and Mads Mikkelsen--grossed $1.7 million this weekend for a tepid cume of $18 million. Summit Entertainment is distributing the film domestically, while Summit International was the foreign sales agent.
Even internationally, Three Musketeers' performance has been mixed, with solid if less-than-steller box office in Germany, France and the U.K. In Japan, Musketeers opened last weekend to a $4.8 million bow. That compares to the $8.2 million first weekend performance in the territory for Anderson's last film, Resident Evil: Afterlife.
