THR's 'Hollywood Masters' Series Sets Aaron Sorkin, Geena Davis for Fifth Season
Moderated by THR executive features editor Stephen Galloway, the new set of interviews will also feature 'Straight Outta Compton's' Ice Cube and TV producer Norman Lear.
Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller and fellow Oscar winners Aaron Sorkin and Geena Davis will be among the guests in the fifth season of The Hollywood Masters interview series, Loyola Marymount University's School of Film and Television announced Monday.
Straight Outta Compton's Ice Cube, Oscar-winning producer Irwin Winkler (Rocky, Raging Bull, Creed) and TV producer Norman Lear (All in the Family, The Jeffersons) are also among the guests for the series, which is moderated by The Hollywood Reporter's executive features editor and Emmy Award winner Stephen Galloway.
During the 90-minute sessions — which run exclusively on THR.com — Galloway will interview a major filmmaker or artist and discuss their body of work. The Masters series is open only to LMU students, alumni and faculty.
Past participants have included Jake Gyllenhaal, Jane Fonda, Michael Caine, Clint Eastwood, Sean Penn, Michael Mann and David O. Russell.
"Our guests represent everything that is best about film and television,” Galloway said. “Norman Lear has created some of the most cutting-edge work in television and has continued to be a beacon for anyone who believes entertainment can have a social impact; and Ice Cube is proving that film and music are still at the heart of social change."
"This season’s lineup of talent is incredible," said Stephen Ujlaki, dean of the LMU School of Film and Television. "We are thrilled that our students will hear from such prominent industry figures — many of them are trailblazers who have spent their careers promoting diversity and social justice, values that are hallmarks of our school."
The series kicks off Jan. 29 with Miller as the first guest.
