THX Cinema Tech Company Partners With Cameron Pace Group on China Studio
The George Lucas-founded firm also expanding links with China Film Group
THX, the cinema tech company co-founded by George Lucas, has partnered with James Cameron's Cameron Pace Group to carry out sound certification on its China studio in the port city of Tianjin.
"We will do certification on two screening rooms in CPG in Tianjin which will open early 2015," Louis Cacciuttolo, THX executive vp of international business development and brand strategy, told The Hollywood Reporter on the fringes of the American Film Market. The company was sponsoring the annual MPAA China co-production summit in Los Angeles.

THX opened offices in Beijing in August, and signed a strategic partnership with the equipment unit of the state-owned China Film Group to provide THX design Cinema Certification programs, and the first THX-certified China Giant Screen (CGS) auditorium will open in a couple of weeks in Shanghai, followed by a project in Suzhou in eastern China.
THX was created in 1983 by Lucas and a team of Lucasfilm engineers with the goal of improving the cinema experience in time for the release of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
To date, THX has certified over 4,000 cinemas, including the TCL Chinese Theater and the ArcLight in Hollywood, the Empire in London and the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow.
