Focus World has picked up U.S. rights to Anna Kendrick's rom-com thriller, Mr. Right.
The Pitch Perfect actress plays hyperactive but well-intentioned Martha, who falls for the neurotic but similarly well-intentioned Francis, played by Sam Rockwell. Their relationship takes a turn when Martha discovers that Francis is a hit man who kills the people who attempt to hire hit men, and she must decide if she should get out or join in. Tim Roth stars as a FBI agent hunting for the same suspicious man as Francis, while rapper RZA is featured in a supporting role.
Paco Cabezas directs the action-adventure love story, which is set in New Orleans. American Ultra scribe, Max Landis, penned the screenplay and also acts as one of the film's executive producers. Mr. Right will premiere at the Toronto Film Festival on Saturday, Sept. 19 as the closing night film.
Focus World will release the film theatrically and on demand on a date to be determined.
An Amasia Entertainment and Circle of Confusion Production in association with 3311 Productions, the film is produced by Bradley Gallo, Michael Helfant, Lawrence Mattis and Rick Jacobs. Executive Producers on the film include William Gallo, Allen Church, Mark Roberts, Jennifer Dana, Ross Jacobson, Sheldon Rabinowitz, Stephen Emery, Landis and Avram Butch Kaplan.
