TIFF: Strand Releasing Takes U.S. Rights to 'Summertime'
Catherine Corsini’s lesbian love story is set in the feminist movement of the 1970s.
Strand Releasing has picked up U.S. rights to Summertime, a lesbian love story from French director Catherine Corsini (Leaving).
Set in 1970s Paris, at the height of the feminist movement, it tells the story of two woman (played by Cecile De France and singer-turned-actress Izia Higelin) from very different backgrounds who find themselves falling madly in love with one another.
Summertime premiered in Locarno and will first screen in Toronto's special presentation section on Sunday.
Strand handled the U.S. Release of Corsini’s 2001 drama La Repetition. Pyramide International is handling world sales for the film and released the title in France, where it grossed around $1.7 million.
