Tim Goodman’s 'The Bastard Machine' TV Blog Relaunches with THR
Television critic promises return of features: Power Rankings!, Spoiled Bastards, and TV Character Face Off; kicks off with wall-to-wall coverage of TCA press tour.
The Hollywood Reporter is pleased to be the new home of chief television critic Tim Goodman’s long running blog The Bastard Machine -- a deeply opinionated and irreverent take on television.
Goodman founded The Bastard Machine in 2006 while he was the television critic for the San Francisco Chronicle, where it drew a large following of very vocal readers.
His blog and Twitter feed (@bastardmachine) are followed by numerous series creators, show runners, writers and network execs. Goodman is know for putting on his so-called Cranky Pants when necessary, but also uses the blog to create a community of connected and passionate television viewers (often referred to as Loyal Bastards).
Goodman, a winner of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists’ Herb Caen Memorial Award, will continue popular features such as The Power Rankings! , The Spoiled Bastard (lengthy deconstructions of every episode of his favorite series, including Mad Men and Breaking Bad), TV Character Face Off and his in-depth podcast interviews with writers, actors and executives at The Bastard Machine’s new home at THR.COM.
The blog joins THR’s expanding stable of blogs including the television business blog The Live Feed and music editor Shirley Halperin’s recently launched Idol Worship, devoted to all things American Idol. Machine will kick off with Goodman’s wall-to-wall coverage of the Television Critics Asscociation press tour in Pasadena, CA today. Goodman can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
