Another Time Inc. Executive Exits

Randall Rothenberg has accepted an offer to return to the Interactive Advertising Bureau as its president and CEO.

On the heels of Time Inc. CEO Jack Griffin’s ouster last week, Randall Rothenberg has parted ways with the company after only one month on the job.

Rothenberg, who joined Time Inc. in January as chief digital officer, will return to the Interactive Advertising Bureau as its president and CEO.

“We’re excited that Randall is taking the helm again at IAB,” said Bob Carrigan, chairman of IAB Board of Directors and CEO, IDG Communications, Inc.

A Time Inc. spokeswoman told the New York Times that the company did not have plans to replace Rothenberg. Executives at the company stressed that Rothenberg’s departure was on good terms.

“We considered him a valued and collegial member of our management team and hoped he would stay,” the leadership team of Howard Averill, Maurice Edelson and John Huey said in a memo to Time Inc. employees sent Tuesday.

Rothenberg had been CEO at the Interactive Advertising Bureau for four years before accepting the job at Time Inc., where he oversaw the company’s online businesses.
