Tina Fey Attached to Star in Disney's Witch Project, Not 'Hocus Pocus' Sequel
The actress also will produce the project with Allison Shearmur.
Disney is in early development on an untitled witch project that has Tina Fey attached to star and produce, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
Allison Shearmur, who is producing a live-action version of Cinderella for the studio, also is on board as a producer.
Plot details are being kept in the cauldron, but studio insiders are stressing that this is not a sequel to Hocus Pocus, Disney's 1993 family fantasy that starred Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Rumors of a sequel popped up on tracking boards several months ago and recently popped up again noting Fey's involvement, both of which have been denied.
No writer is on board, but the project is hoping to strike a Ghostbusters tone.
The witch project is a reunion for Fey with the studio; the actress was a headliner in Disney's recent release Muppets Most Wanted.
