TiVo's wish upon a star comes true with Disney
EmptyTiVo will offer on-demand Disney content this year, and the company turned a surprise first-quarter profit, the DVR pioneer said Wednesday.
The Disney deal, which will operate through CinemaNow, means that TiVo can offer movies-on-demand from all the major studios, given that the other studios previously were available through TiVo's relationship with Amazon's Unbox.
On the earnings front, TiVo posted a profit of $3.6 million, while analysts expected a small loss. Net revenue grew a modest 1% to $60.8 million.
TiVo shares, which were down 2% during regular trading, rebounded after-hours. (partialdiff)
