TLA Finds 'Beauty' in Toronto
TLA Releasing will release MK2's South African drama stateside.
MK2 has made a pretty deal for Olivier Hermanus’ Beauty with TLA Releasing, the French sales company said on Monday.
After winning the Queer Palm prize at this year’s Festival de Cannes, the South African drama is screening in the Toronto International Film Festival’s World Contemporary Cinema section. TLA has snagged stateside rights for the title that has already been sold to the U.K., Benelux, Australia, Germany, Poland and Italy, and MK2 expects to sign other territories for Beauty in the coming days at Toronto’s market.
“We are pleased to have worked with MK2 to bring Oliver Hermanus' controversial and unsettling drama to American audiences," TLA Releasing’s president Derek Curl said of the deal.
