“They are among our greatest champions and we are forever grateful for their generosity and commitment,” said Tiffany Siart, president and CEO of BBBSLA.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles (BBBSLA) has announced that Nancy Daniels and Stephen Galloway will be honored at its Accessories for Success Spring Scholarship event.

The luncheon — set for April 23 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel — will see Daniels, TLC president and general manager, take home the Excellence in Mentoring Award, while The Hollywood Reporter's Stephen Galloway, executive editor, features, will be feted with the Innovator Award. Actress and fashion star Amber Valletta returns as host.

“As the driving force behind the Women In Entertainment Mentorship Program, Stephen Galloway has not only raised much-needed funding for our programs, but has made it possible for more than 120 girls to benefit from the guidance and nurturing of some of the most successful and dynamic women in the entertainment industry, one of whom is our other extraordinary honoree, Big Sister Nancy Daniels," said Tiffany Siart, president and CEO of BBBSLA. "Both Stephen and Nancy can attest to the enormous satisfaction that has come to each of them personally through the relationships they’ve built with BBBS. They are among our greatest champions and we are forever grateful for their generosity and commitment.”

At TLC, Daniels leads the company’s flagship female-focused television channel, overseeing all aspects of the network’s programming, production, development, multiplatform, communications and marketing. She also is the most senior female content executive at Discovery Communications. Her previous honors include a GLAAD Media Award for outstanding reality program for I Am Jazz. Daniels has volunteered with BBBSLA in partnership with THR's Women in Entertainment Mentoring Program. “Through this program, I’ve had the honor of welcoming Daisy into my life and my world and to see her launch into her next exciting chapter at UC Berkeley has been an awesome and humbling experience," said Daniels, nodding to her mentoring work.

Galloway is an Emmy Award-winning journalist who was named the 2013 “Journalist of the Year” at the National Entertainment Journalism Awards. His roster of subjects is a who’s who of the industry, including Steven Spielberg, Denzel Washington, Sean Penn, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, among many others. In 2014, Galloway was named the Cosgrove Visiting Artist at Loyola Marymount University, where he currently hosts the interview series, The Hollywood Masters, which has featured such prominent filmmakers as Clint Eastwood and Penn. Galloway’s most recent collaboration is a highly anticipated biography of Sherry Lansing titled Leading Lady: Sherry Lansing and the Making of a Hollywood Groundbreaker. Luncheon guests will be gifted an advance copy of the book, and BBBSLA trustee Sherry Lansing and Galloway will both be on hand to sign copies.

In 2009, Galloway joined BBBSLA to create the Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program. More than 120 girls have taken part in the program and almost all have gone on to four-year colleges, supported by more than $4 million in scholarship money that Galloway has helped raise.

“When I started working with Big Brothers Big Sisters on the Women in Entertainment Mentorship Program, I never imagined it would become the most important mission of my life,” said Galloway, “I just wish I could share this award with the girls who’ve taken part in the program and the astonishing support team at BBBSLA that has made it such a success.”

Prior to the luncheon, luxury accessories boutique vendors will feature fashionable accessories for purchase with a portion of proceeds from sales donated to BBBSLA. Featured are: Borrowed Bling, Classy Bag Lady, The Treasured Accessory, Kiki Bean & Bedhead, Over the Top Gifts, Muki Bolton, Shelly’s Fashions, LulaRoe, Goorin Bros., Hostess Gifts to Go, Blu Collection and Apropos Floral & Event Design. Highlighting the afternoon will be a fashion show, featuring Bigs and Littles modeling outfits and accessories. Each “Big” and “Little” will have selected his or her outfit and accessories from a Goodwill store, with a maximum budget of $30 each. This aspect aligns with an education initiative by Goodwill pegged at developing self-sufficiency in youth and the importance of shopping within a budget.
