TNT's new drama "Leverage" got off to a strong start, averaging 5 million total viewers in its commercial-free debut Sunday.

The Timothy Hutton starrer, which aired from 10-11 p.m., also pulled in 2.1 million viewers in the adults 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen. That makes the premiere TNT's best original series telecast ever in 18-49 during a regular broadcast season.

However, "Leverage" didn't reach the record-setting total-viewer mark set in September by the series premiere of TNT's "Raising the Bar" (7.7 million).

"Leverage's" lead-in, a third installment in "The Librarian" movie franchise, "Curse of the Judas Chalice," averaged 5.4 million total viewers, including 2.2 million in 18-49.

Elsewhere, Lifetime's Heather Locklear movie "Flirting With Forty" averaged 4 million viewers in its bow at 9 p.m. Saturday. (partialdiff)
