Toby Jones Starrer 'Berberian Sound Studio' Gets U.K. Distribution
Peter Strickland's movie will be rolled out by Artificial Eye after British indie strikes a deal with Germany's Match Factory for the title.
LONDON -- Peter Strickland’s Berberian Sound Studio, starring Toby Jones, is set to try and scare up British audiences with Artificial Eye snapping up U.K. rights to the movie.
The movie details the story of a naïve and introverted British sound engineer hired to mix the latest film by horror maestro Santini (Antonio Mancino).
As he spends his time mixing screams and the bloodcurdling sounds of hacked vegetables, both time and realities begin to shift – and the sound engineer finds himself lost in an otherworldly spiral of sonic and personal mayhem.
The picture is to make an appearance during this year's Edinburgh International Film Festival and will compete for the event's Michael Powell award.
Artificial Eye struck the deal with Germany's Match Factory for the picture.
Strickland’s film is an Illuminations Films / Warp X production, produced by Keith Griffiths and Mary Burke and co-produced by Hans Geißendörfer.
Co-developed and co-financed by Film4 and the now defunct U.K. Film Council's movie fund, it is made in association with Screen Yorkshire and Geißendörfer Film und Fernsehproduktion.
