Todd Holland, Karey Nixon Ink Overall Deal at ABC Studios
The producers behind "The Pro" pilot and Matthew Perry's "Go On" have signed a two-year agreement to develop comedy, genre and drama projects.
Todd Holland and Karey Nixon are pacting with ABC Studios.
Under their Dark Toy Entertainment banner, the producing partners have inked a two-year overall deal with the studio. Through the new agreement, they will continue to develop comedy and expand their presence into other areas, including genre and drama projects.
"We had a fantastic experience working with them on The Pro and are so excited to work with them developing both comedy and drama projects for the studio," said Patrick Moran, head of ABC Studios.
"We're the dirty laundry company," added Holland. "We both love when writers bring in their real stories with all the awkward juiciness of their real lives, real families, real friends -- truth is always funnier than confection."
Dark Toy is behind NBC comedy pilot The Pro, an ABC Studios co-production. Holland directed the pilot, which stars Rob Lowe and Rob Riggle. Other projects in development at Dark Toy include AMC's comedy entry Random Acts, based on the Andrea Abbate play.
Holland and Nixon's credits include NBC's short-lived Matthew Perry comedy Go On, Free Agents and ABC's Miss/Guided, which marked the duo's first project together.
Said Moran in a March interview with The Hollywood Reporter of his approach to overall deals at the studio: "They're a critical piece of our business and we definitely want to continue to make deals, and make them aggressively and be very targeted. We have a great drama roster here, and we've spent a lot of energy building a comedy roster. A lot of energy. But it's fiercely competitive because everybody's looking for the next comedy hit."
Holland and Nixon are repped by WME and Jackoway Tyerman.
