Tom Christie Upped to COO at Showtime Networks
The exec will continue to oversee the cable brand's widening distribution.
In the latest change since his own appointment as president and CEO of Showtime Networks, David Nevins has promoted distribution president Tom Christie to chief operating officer.
“Tom is an executive of the highest caliber and is one of our key strategic leaders,” Nevins said Thursday in a statement. “He is central to driving our long-term growth as we continue to expand onto new platforms, and we’re thrilled that he will be stepping up his role at Showtime Networks.”
Most recently holding the title of distribution, business development and network operations president, Christie has spent more than 25 years with the company. He will continue to lead the growing distribution, sales, affiliate marketing, network operations and new business development teams, and he also will have oversight of the planning and execution of future strategies.
Christie has had a bigger role at Showtime Networks since the cable brand has aggressively expanded into over-the-top distribution, which includes a stand-alone service available through Amazon, Apple, Google, Roku and Hulu.
The network kicked off its aggressive campaign to digitally widen its base in 2015. Showtime's subscriber count currently stands at over 23 million.
