Tom Clark Back in Canadian Political TV on Global

The veteran broadcaster is to host The West Block on Global Television a year after leaving CTV after being passed over to replace Lloyd Robertson as chief news anchor.

TORONTO -- Veteran Canadian broadcaster Tom Clark has returned to anchoring an Ottawa political talker.

Clark will host The West Block on Global Television a year after he abruptly left rival CTV in September 2010 as host of Power Play With Tom Clark.

That move came after Clark was passed over to replace Lloyd Robertson as chief news anchor for CTV National News.

That job went instead to Lisa Laflamme.

And CTV chose newspaper scribe Don Martin to fill the vacant anchor chair at Power Play.

Now Global Television has plucked Clark to host The West Block from Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

Global News, the news-gathering arm at Global Television, also said it has hired veteran CBC Asian correspondent Patrick Brown to be its China correspondent, based in Beijing.
