Tom Cruise Sets Sail With James Corden on 'Tom's Cruise'
'The Mummy' star joined the 'Late Late Show' host to sail along the "River Thames Corden."
Tom Cruise joined Late Late Show host James Corden in London on Wednesday.
After appearing the night before on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Cruise hopped across the pond to catch up with Corden, who moved his show to London for the week following multiple terror attacks in England over the last two weeks.
The host surprised his guest with a trip aboard "Tom's Cruise," a river boat decked out in the movie star's honor. Replete with massive cutouts of the stars head plastered all over the bow, "Tom's Cruise" set sail on the "River Thames Corden," a play on the Late Late Show host's own name. Cruise seemed more baffled than flattered by the gesture, especially when Corden revealed the entirety of his plan for the cruise: "You and me are hosting it!"
"Why?" responded a befuddled Cruise.
The boat featured a number of references to Cruise’s film career, including a Mission: Impossible room, an “adults only” Eyes Wide Shut room and a Top Gun room — right off the “hallway to the danger zone,” of course.
Soon it was time for passengers to board “Tom’s Cruise” and take place in a Risky Business contest in which they slid across the deck in white dress shirts and underpants and danced to Bob Seger’s “Old Time Rock n Roll.”
Fans seemed a bit more interested in spending time with Cruise than with Corden, which weighed on the Late Late Show host’s emotions.
Luckily, Cruise was there to lift their host’s spirits in true Top Gun fashion. “There is no Maverick without Goose,” Cruise, sporting navy whites, told Corden, serenading him and adorning the host with his own jacket and aviators.
