Clint Eastwood is directing the film with Tom Hanks starring as pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent alum Jamey Sheridan has joined Warner Bros.' star-studded Captain Sully movie opposite Tom Hanks.

Clint Eastwood is directing Sully, which stars Hanks as Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, the pilot who safely landed his plane full of 155 passengers in the Hudson River after both engines were knocked out by a flock of geese.

The "Miracle on the Hudson" made national headlines in January 2009. Aaron Eckhart will play Jeff Skiles, who was the first officer and co-pilot on the Airbus A320 and Laura Linney will play Sully's wife.

Sheridan will play the senior air safety investigator who works tirelessly after the crash to investigate what caused it, and how to prevent it from happening in the future.

Todd Komarnicki wrote the script, drawing from Sullenberger's life and memoir.

Eastwood, Tim Moore and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall are producing the Warner Bros. film.

Sheridan’s recent film credits include Fox Searchlight’s The East with Brit Marling and Ellen Page, and the upcoming drama Spotlight, which stars Rachel McAdams and Mark Ruffalo and centers on The Boston Globe's investigative team that covered the Massachusetts' Catholic church sex-abuse scandal. The film will screen at both the Venice and Toronto film festivals.

Sheridan has also had several notable TV roles over the years, playing Captain James Deakins on Law & Order: Criminal Intent for five years, and appearing on Showtime’s hit series Homeland and The CW’s Arrow. He’s repped by UTA and Underground.
