Tom Hanks Reunites With Wilson Volleyball at New York Rangers Game
Wilson finally made his way back to his beloved friend 15 years after drifting away.
Wilson finally came back!
Fifteen years after audiences watched Chuck Noland yell "Wilson!!" at the top of his lungs as his beloved, hand-printed friend drifted away, the volleyball was reunited with Cast Away's Tom Hanks at a New York Rangers game on Wednesday night.
The hockey team posted a video of Hanks sitting in the stands as the anthropomorphized volleyball was tossed to its long-lost friend.
Hanks, who received a best actor Oscar nomination for the leading role, caught and stared at the ball before turning Wilson's face toward the camera and chanting, "Let's go, Rangers!"
Cast Away tells the story of Noland, a FedEx executive whose plane crashes in the Pacific Ocean, stranding him on a deserted island for years with only one companion: a Wilson volleyball.
At the end of the film, Noland abandons the island with Wilson in tow in hopes of being found, but the volleyball drifts away before it can be saved.
The film, which was directed by Robert Zemeckis, hit theaters in 2000 and received two Oscar noms: best actor for Hanks and best sound.
