Tom Sturridge will make his Broadway debut opposite Alec Baldwin and Shia LaBeouf in the Lyle Kessler play, which opens on April 7 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.

STORY: Shia LaBeouf Making Broadway Debut in 'Orphans'

Sturridge will play Phillip, the younger brother of LaBeouf's Treat, who are two orphan's trying to survive in a rundown apartment in North Philadelphia. Baldwin will play a Chicago gangster named Harold, who ends up getting kidnapped by the two brothers.

Sturridge was most recently seen on screen in Walter Salles' film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's On the Road as Carlo Marx (Kerouac’s alias for Allen Ginsberg), opposite Sam Riley, Garrett Hedlund and Kristen Stewart.

The British actor has numerous stage credits, including Simon Stephen’s Punk Rock, which garnered him the Critics’ Circle Best Newcomer Award and Best Newcomer at the Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards. He also starred in Stephens’ play Wastwater at London’s Royal Court Theatre and recently starred in Polly Stenham’s play No Quarter.

Sturridge's previous film credits include Being Julia, Vanity Fair, Like Minds, The Boat That Rocked and Pirate Radio.

This production, directed by Daniel Sullivan and produced by Frederick Zollo and Robert Cole, will mark the first Broadway staging of the play, which premiered in 1983 at The Matrix Theatre in Los Angeles. The play also had a successful run at Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre in 1985.

A film version starring Albert Finney, Matthew Modine and Kevin Anderson, and directed by Alan J. Pakula, was produced in 1987.

Orphans will begin previews on March 19 with a scheduled opening on April 7 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
