Toonz opens U.S. distribution arm
Los Angeles office will handle sales for India animatorNEW DELHI -- Toonz Animation India said Wednesday it has established its Los Angeles-based distribution division Toonz Entertainment USA headed by Matt Cooperstein as executive vice president.
TEUSA will handle the group's worldwide sales and distribution of animated features, direct to video content and TV series which initially consist of shows based on "Wolverine," "X-Men" and "Freefonix."
"We would be able to take to the world, properties from our library as well as a portfolio of iconic properties," Toonz Group CEO P. Jayakumar said.
In 2008, Toonz announced that its $3.6 million live action feature debut "Mostly Ghostly" was acquired by Universal Studios Home Entertainment for worldwide distribution (THR 26 May 2008).
Cooperstein has over 20 years experience in the industry and comes from Liberation Entertainment, while he earlier worked with ITC Entertainment Group, Polygram Television, Universal Worldwide Television and IndieArts Entertainment.
