Toronto 2011: Lionsgate Enters Early Talks to Pick Up Jennifer Westfeldt Comedy 'Friends With Kids'

The ensemble comedy stars Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Megan Fox, Maya Rudolph and Jon Hamm, whose romantic partner Westfeldt directs.
While Toronto moviegoers and buyers were getting some of their first looks at Luc Besson’s The Lady and the Channing Tatum-starrer Ten Year, both of which had their premieres Monday night, Lionsgate began early negotiations to pick up the ensemble comedy Friends with Kids.

The movie, which is the directorial debut of Jennifer Westfeldt, stars Kristen Wiig, Adam Scott, Megan Fox, Maya Rudolph, Westfeldt and her romantic partner Jon Hamm. The story centers around a pair of thirtysomething best friends who observe the toll that having kids has taken on the couples they know and resolve to bypass that stress by having a child and then date other people.

Kids premiered Friday to mixed critical reaction. Sources caution that the talks between Lionsgate and the producers are early, so no price tag has been determined.
Cinetic and Red Granite are repping the movie.
