Toronto 2012: Hyde Park-Image Nation Join With Troika, Merced Media on ‘Careful What You Wish For’
The companies will co-finance and produce the thriller featuring Immortals star Isabel Lucas, with Hyde Park handling international sales.
TORONTO - Hyde Park-Image Nation, Troika Pictures and Merced Media Partners are joining forces to co-finance and produce the thriller Careful What You Wish For, which will star Isabel Lucas (Immortals) and which Elizabeth Allen (Aquamarine) will direct.
Pitched as a sexy thriller along the lines of Body Heat or Basic Instinct, Careful features Lucas as the femme fatale Lena, a young, lonely wife of a wealthy businessman who rents the lake house next door to a very self-conscious high-school student. When the student starts an affair with Lena, he gets more than he bargained for.
Chris Frisina penned the script to Careful What You Wish For. Hyde Park’s Ashok Amritraj and Troika’s Robert Stein will produce together with Michael A. Helfant, Bradley Gallo, and Myriad Pictures’ Kirk D'Amico. Executive Producers are Merced Media Partners’ Raj Singh, Stuart Brown and Kevin Frakes along with William Gallo, Chris Frisina and Philip Cohen as co-executive producer. Hyde Park International is handling worldwide sales and has already pre-sold the title to multiple territories, including Germany (Square One), South Africa (Ster Kinekor), Latin America (Swen), Eastern Europe (Grandview) and Portugal (Losomundo) .
Lucas, who also appeared in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, has roles in Terrence Malick’s upcoming Knight of Cups, the new remake of action film Red Dawn and the thriller The Loft from Belgium director Erik van Looy. The producers say they plan to cast two other A-list names for the remaining leads in Careful. Production is set to start in the first quarter of 2013.
