Toronto 2012: The Film Farm Adds Stephen Traynor as Partner
The veteran line producer joins the Canadian indie producer of titles like Brian De Palma's "Redacted," Sarah Polley's "Away From Her" and Atom Egoyan's "Chloe."
TORONTO -- Stephen Traynor has joined Simone Urdl and Jennifer Weiss as partners in The Film Farm, the Canadian indie producer behind Atom Egoyan and Brian De Palma films.
"Having Stephen as a core member of the team will allow The Film Farm to expand its production and development slates," said Weiss on Tuesday.
"He makes us better and stronger. That's what you want in a partner,” she added.
Among his first The Film Farm assignments will be, along with Egoyan, Urdl and Weiss, producing Queen of the Night, the Ryan Reynolds-starrer, to be directed by Egoyan.
Traynor, a veteran Canadian line producer, including on Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children, has just completed work on another Toronto International Film Festival title, Foxfire, the first English-Language film by French filmmaker Laurent Cantet.
He also lined produced the Egoyan films Chloe and Adoration.
Also going forward, Traynor is developing Last Letter From Your Lover, based on the British novel by Jojo Moyes and adapted by Canadian screenwriter Esta Spalding.
Urdl and Weiss launched The Film Farm in 1997, and have among their credits Redacted, by De Palma, and Sarah Polley’s Oscar-nominated theatrical drama Away From Her.
