Toronto 2012: UTA Signs Hot Director Ziad Doueiri (Exclusive)
His hot-button film "The Attack" will screen this weekend as a Special Presentation at the fest.
Ziad Doueiri, director and co-writer of the hot-button terrorist-themed film The Attack, has signed with UTA.
The film drew glowing reviews at last weekend’s Telluride Film Festival and will screen as a Special Presentation at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend.
The psychological thriller centers on a successful Arab surgeon living in Tel Aviv who must confront a dark secret about his wife in the aftermath of a deadly suicide bombing. The Attack was adapted from Yasmina Khadra's international best-seller of the same name.
The Lebanese-born director’s two previous feature films -- 2005’s Lila Says and 1999's West Beirut -- drew buzz and made the rounds on the festival circuit.

Cohen Media Group and Focus World will release the film in North America next year.
