Toronto: Cinelicious Pics Takes Two Josephine Decker Films

Berlinale
'Thou Wast Mild and Lovely'

The specialty distributor picks up 'Butter on the Latch' and 'Thou Wast Mild and Lovely' for theatrical and VOD

Specialty distributor Cinelicious Pics has acquired all rights in North America to Josephine Decker’s erotic thrillers Butter on the Latch and Thou Wast Mild and Lovely.

The director's first two features, shot back-to-back, screened at this year's Berlin International Film Festival. Before turning to directing, Decker was best known as a performance artist. She famously undressed in front of artist Marina Abramovic at Abramovic's "The Artist Is Present" retrospective at MoMA in New York.

About the acquisition, Decker said she was “thrilled to be bursting out of the gate with a company who is also hurtling into new territory. The guys at Cinelicious are passionate, visionary film lovers, incredibly hard workers and just good people. I feel very lucky to be working with them.”

Cinelicious Pics plans to release both films as multiplatform bows in November.

The deal was negotiated by Cinelicious Pics’ president Paul Korver, president of business affairs Kristine Blumensaadt and executive vp Dennis Bartok, with Ben Weiss and Meghan Oliver from Paradigm and Craig F. Cohen of McCue Sussmane & Zapfel.
