TORONTO – David Mamet's thriller Blackbird -- headlined by Cate Blanchett -- is moving ahead.

Lisa Wilson and Myles Nestel's The Solution Entertainment Group announced Thursday that it will shop the project to foreign buyers gathered in Toronto this week and next for the film festival and corresponding film market.

ICM Partners and SBS are representing U.S. rights.

In Blackbird, Blanchett plays a woman who discovers that her grandfather may have been involved in the plot to kill John F. Kennedy. The movie, set to start shooting in January in Australia, is being financed by Saïd Ben Saïd’s Paris-based company SBS Productions.

"Blackbird is a quintessential suspense thriller in the vein of Mamet's other great work, The Spanish Prisoner. The Solution is just as passionate and committed to the project as I am and will choose the right international partners to bring this film to a global audience," said Ben Saïd.

Added Wilson and Nestel: "Blackbird promises to be a nail-biting thriller. We're delighted to be on board the project in Toronto."

Blanchett currently can be seen in theaters in Woody Allen's critically acclaimed Blue Jasmine.
