Toronto gets 'Emotional' to end fest
EmptyDeparting from its tradition of going with lighter, major-studio fare, the Toronto International Film Festival on Wednesday chose the homegrown drama "Emotional Arithmetic," starring Susan Sarandon and Christopher Plummer, to close its 32nd edition (HR 7/19).
Paolo Barzman's drama is about three Holocaust survivors who reunite 35 years later on a bucolic Quebec farm.
Rounding out the cast of the Canadian film is Gabriel Byrne, Roy Dupuis and Max von Sydow.
"Arithmetic" was touted as a possible opener for Toronto but that honor fell to Jeremy Po-deswa's "Fugitive Pieces."
