Toronto To Give Four Canadian Actors Big Break
The Toronto International Film Festival is looking to get four rising Canadian thesps before cameras in Hollywood and elsewhere internationally.
TORONTO -- The Toronto International Film Festival’s star-making machine has tapped four local actors for a Hollywood close-up at next month’s festival: Sarah Allen, Katie Boland, Sarah Gadon and Keon Mohajeri.
The aspiring acting quartet will participate in the festival’s inaugural Rising Stars programme, which aims to get their careers going in Hollywood and elsewhere abroad.
Gadon will next month be promoting two movies at TIFF that she stars in: David Croenberg’s A Dangerous Method and Mary Harron’s The Moth Diaries.
Gadon also completed a star-turn in Cronenberg’s latest movie, Cosmopolis, which was shot in Toronto.
Sarah Allen’s screen credits include Human Trafficking, Little Mosque on the Prairie, and the SyFy remake of the BBC series Being Human.
Katie Boland is currently performing in Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master, which stars Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Keon Mohajeri’s recent credits include Flashpoint, HBO Canada's Bloodletting and Miraculous Cures and Murdoch Mysteries.
Both Allen and Mohajeri are graduates of the Canadian Film Center’s Actors Conservatory.
The Toronto International Film Festival is set to run from September 8 to 18.
